Recycled and reclaimed Tableware

Recycled Noot is one of our collections we make a lot.

All parts of this tableware line are made of reclaimed and recycled stoneware and glazes.
The glaze and clay is collected on different ways in our studio to make new recycled stoneware clays.

Rediscovering Engobe - Ceramics

 Rediscovering engobes...

Sinds we finally are setteling in our stidio in Utrcht we are finding some time for
experimenting again with all kind of ceramic technics.
This is a blog over this strat with engobes.
We made 4 batches to start with and made the clay slibs from dry stoneware clays.
Ocker yellow, black/very dark brown, dark grey/brown and a batch of our cool grey clay.

First we dried the smaller clay pieces, then soak them in water, sieve for a lovely smooth clay slib.
Yes a bit of work has to be done.... what's new in ceramics ;) - we made extra so next time hopefully we can start right away...
We tried a few different technics to get the engobe on the creations and on these 4 pictures you see
the application on fresh thrown objects using fingers, brush and slib trailor......

    

And we did some dots... and had fun!!
Now we are going to wait on some of the glazed results before we continu with the engobes.
And in our classes in Utrecht we will apply them ofcourse

The Blues part 2

A while ago in Februari we blogged on our dutch blog about our new blue espresso cups.
These were created in our new delfs blue and fresh turquoise glaze. And we loved it and went on 
with  these blue colors....
A few steady products from our "Stone & Color" series we have glazed in these colors.
Strange because i'm a real green freak - but love to make a blue moment in my life once a while :)

And that beautiful blue.... i have no clue ;) comes in a lot of shades. From steel blue to classic blues like delfs or cobalt blue. Here are two examples of our new blue products.

Ohhh we do not want to forget our turquoise cafe cups without ears - a super basic shape - from the    "Stone & Color" collectie.

  

Blue belongs to thursdays.... that's typical it is thursdaynight when i wright this blog :)

Blue is the color nobility and stands for creativity and a happy career.

In magic blue is a healing color for the soul and stands for wisdom, trust, hope, inner peace, 

strength, idealism and fairness.

5,5 months of Superrrr "Vink"

Oh yes i think untill the day i die the time will fly......
So here are some pictures of 5,5 month young "Vink" :)

Ok here comes some sweetness...
Our new family member Vink a White & (Chocolate) brown :) border collie. 10 weeks young and a lively character...
In the first few days we went sitting in the sun and yes lots of crocus flowers because spring is around the corner.....a big smile on my face!!

And i think there will be more about "Vink" because she is very adventurous....

Oke here we go again :) - changing plans, looks, etc.
Had a ceramic shop for 5 years but sinds the end of 2014 this stopped (my choice).
For an other direction in my life, after finding the love of my life in an other city...
This year is hopefully my year to get it a bit stable and also the year i turn the big "40"

A time ago "Swarte Noot" was born (a mix of our both sir names). But after i while it is still alive in the mind but not so in reality....so for now i will go on with my company name "Noot & Zo"
And i will be blogging here :)

That lovely time of the year!!

I always get a very happy vibe when the ice salloon arround the corner
opens his door for the public......means it is icecream time and that is a
 fine indication that spring is coming soon.
And i'm reaaly in need of SPRING ;)

Costum made Iron decals - Birth present!!

Costum home made iron decals as a sweet birth present for one of the students of the group.

Ohhh really liking the possibilities that you can have with home made iron decals.
These small dishes were handthrown in sweet colors and every student made
there own little design to put on the works...

From drwan with paint on the computer, handdrawn designs and more.

Just starting with these so i think in the future you will find a lot more on the blog...

My father is an discgolfer and artist and yes when you put these two together you gat some very beautiful discgolf arts....

Here i have put one of his designs on a solid color thin porcelain cup.

Yarnbowls - Rock style....

In demand :)

Making more and more yarnbowls at the moment.
From sweet candy colors in flowery shapes to these new ones in "Rock" style.
The same as my rock tableware collection.
All pure and polished on the outside and glazed glossy and smooth in the inside.

Ohhhh love the things you can explore with ceramics, all those technics, all those styles - Superrrrrrrrrr!!
In the USA and other big ceramic countries it is already been a hype and some ceramic artist use this technicon thre work and arts....
It is a easy, self controlled and cheap way to get prints on your ceramics.
For me the adventure is just starting and i'm loving it!!

Ivy leaves in porcelain.

Finally i have started listing the Ivy collection in the online shop.
Starting with three lovely necklaces.
The Ivy pendants are mde of high fire porcelain and the chain is a baby rolo sterling silver one.

Studs made of porcelain and sterling silver!!

Yehhhhh finally i'm making them again....
When i started to make my porcelain jewelry i also made a lot of studs.
A populair sweet small earrings - but what ever i tried i had many problems with the adhesives.
and i tried a lot. Got really tired of glueing them again and that they fall of the porcelain.
Now after a few years my partner came with an helping hand and idea...

I woked it out and voila making porcelain studs again!!
